Softpatches was formally established in 1995, but the spirit and concept began several generations prior to that date. Sewing for necessity became part of our family’s tradition many years ago. Throughout the Great Depression and other eras of hard times, quilting was incorporated into our life style. My mother taught both me and my sister to sew and insisted that we take Home Economics in High School. My grandmother guided me through the process of making my first quilt more than forty years ago. After that, my sister became captivated with the colors and designs that make up a quilt project. Since then, we have made hundreds of quilts and other quilted products.
